4K

We love our 4K friends!

Our afternoon 4K program is play-based and led by student interests as we explore various topics. Through fun activities and interesting “studies”, we guide students’ social/emotional development, and engage students in learning important skills in literacy, math, science, social studies and the arts.

Our General Schedule
We start our day outside, where the kids can play on our climbing structures and slides, our playhouse and mud kitchen. They love to play in the sand box and build structures with our tree stumps and wood pieces. We move inside to Circle Time to sing “hello” and start our day. We read a story and have snack, then break into small groups for differentiated and focused learning, according to student needs. Our day ends with Choice Time (free play), where students play and learn in various “Interest Areas” including Dramatic Play, Discovery, Toys and Games, Blocks, Library, and Art. Our teachers work and play with students during this time and lead interesting games and activities. We end our day with another Circle Time to say goodbye.

Preparing students for Kindergarten and fostering a love for learning
In addition to traditional academic goals, our 4K students learn how to be a kind and helpful part of a classroom community. They learn about their own feelings and practice empathy with others. We create a loving, enriching environment for students to grow and learn as they prepare for Kindergarten. Our teachers strive to support students academically and socially/emotionally. We love to work with families to support their 4K child in the best way possible.
